After I discovered that my son’s eczema was greatly affected by the laundry detergent I was using, I went on a search for a better solution. I have used a lot of the free and clear detergents but they did not help his skin as much as I had hoped. I have been working with different recipes I found on the Internet and in DIY books. I did not want to use borax, because it irritated my son’s skin. Because I was so limited on ingredients, it was quite a challenge! Most of the DIY detergents I tried did not work. I finally ended up combining and altering a couple different recipes and now I finally have one that works!
This liquid detergent is not quite like the store bought detergent because it separates, but I feel like it works and smells really good! And no chemicals! So of course I love it:) I have been using it for quite some time. Many of my friends and family have been asking about it so I decided to post on my blog to share with all of you.
🔸 3/4 Cup Baking Soda
🔸 3 Cups HOT Water
🔸 3/4 Cup Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap – I prefer Lavender. Do NOT use the unscented baby one (it clumps)
🔸 10-20 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
The lavender soap and eucalyptus oil smell really good together. Stir well. Pour into a large jug (I use a cleaned out plastic milk jug). You will need to shake the mixture each time you use it because it does separate. I use about 1/8 to 1/4 cup of this detergent per laundry load. Hope you love it!
