There can be many harmful ingredients in everyday hand soaps.&nbsp;Phthalates,&nbsp;Triclosan and&nbsp;Sodium Lauryl (or Laureth) Sulfate (SLS\/SLES) are just a few of the ingredients you will find. We wash our hands constantly with children and pets in the house. The chemical-based hand soaps often caused skin irritation for our family. Since we have started making our own hand soap, our hands are no longer irritated and look and feel more moisturized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where to Start<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A do-it-yourself foaming hand soap is a very simple alternative to store-bought hand soaps. You can purchase nice foaming hand soap dispensers from Amazon or many stores in your area. &nbsp;Occasionally, I find glass foaming hand soap containers at local department stores such as Bed, Bath and Beyond or Marshalls.&nbsp; The base recipe of this hand soap is Castile soap and water. You can play with different essential oils and extracts to create your own scents. But here are two of my favorites:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Almond &#8211; Apricot Foaming Hand Soap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Cup Filtered or Distilled Water<br>2 Tablespoons Almond Castile Soap<br>1 Teaspoon Apricot Kernel Oil<br>1 Teaspoon Almond Extract<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coconut-Lavender Foaming Hand Soap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Cup Water<br>2 Tablespoons Lavender Castile Soap<br>1 Teaspoon Fractionated Coconut Oil<br>10 Drops Lavender Essential Oil<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">I usually mix the ingredients directly in the foaming hand soap container. This tends to be easier than mixing separately. But you can easily mix the ingredients first and then pour into containers.
