Though the exact wording is not in our scriptures, it still lines up with scripture.

A few things to know about the Apostles’ Creed:

  1. The meaning of the word ‘catholic’ used in the creed, describes the universal church of Jesus Christ, not the Roman Catholic Church.
  2. The line – ‘He descended into hell’ was not included in the earliest documents found but must have been added at a later date.
