Simple Shaving Tips ~ For Men
There are many ways to get a closer shave and avoid irritation and bumps. A man’s facial hair is especially coarse and can be more sensitive than expected. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of discussion about shaving a man’s facial hair. Bumps and irritation can be common but not necessary. Here are a few helpful tips:
1. Blades
Use a high quality razor with a sharp blade – preferably one with multiple blades.
2. Warm Skin Is Better
Shower before you shave so your skin is warm and pores are open. Or apply very warm wet towel to the skin for several minutes before a shave.
3. Try A Shaving Brush
Try a shaving brush made of badger hair as it retains the most water and gives best lather.
4. The Type Of Shaving Gel Can Make A Difference
Use a shave gel that acts more like a gel and is less like a cream. Shaving gels allow the razor to glide over the skin, causing less irritation.
5. Direction
Go with the grain of the hair in short strokes. One inch at a time.
6. Gentle Is Better
Don’t press too hard on the skin. If you can feel the blade on your skin, chances are it is causing irritation.
7. Blade Care
Dry your blade after you shave and store in dry place – this will keep the blade sharp and also help the blade last longer.
Higher quality brushes and razors are helpful. Try these suggestions for smoother, healthier skin!
