WAXING BUMPS – WHY THEY HAPPEN

Waxing bumps can be a terrible nuisance. When removing hair abruptly from the skin, an imbalance can occur. This imbalance causes the oil glands to work overtime which then causes a breakout. Small bumps can also be an irritation to the wax, the temperature of the wax, or sensitive skin. Everyone reacts differently to waxing. A little irritation can be considered somewhat normal. However, there are steps you can take to lessen or avoid irritation altogether, even if you have sensitive skin.

8 STEPS TO FOLLOW:

STEP 1: Exfoliate before waxing.

STEP 2: Remove makeup before waxing.

STEP 3: Wax with a non-irritating wax (know the type of wax that works best with your skin and if you have a sensitivity to certain ingredients, i.e. a honey).

STEP 4: Keep the skin clean after a wax and avoid touching your skin!

STEP 5: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser after you wax. Sometimes a nice warm shower, with the steam, will help replenish needed moisture and re-balance the skin.

STEP 6: After cleansing, use witch hazel to tone and re-balance your skin.

STEP 7: Apply a natural moisturizer and keep your skin hydrated. A good rule of thumb is to make sure and add more moisturizer if your skin feels itchy.

STEP 8: Let your clean skin breathe overnight.

When following these steps, you greatly reduce the possibility of having a reaction to waxing. Try these tips with your next wax appointment and see the difference!
