WHY MAKE YOUR OWN BATH SALTS?
Have you ever wanted to make your own bath salts but did not know where to begin? Before I started making bath salts for my family, I thought it would be really hard to do. Turns out it is super easy and really fun because you get to be creative. Unfortunately, many of the bath salts that are available at stores are full of chemical fragrances and unnatural fillers.
THE BENEFITS
Bath salts can be very therapeutic if you use pure and natural ingredients. For example, Epsom salts and different mineral salts can be beneficial for your health and body. Epsom salts are crystals of hydrated magnesium sulfate used for sore muscles, body aches, laxatives or medical use. There are many uses for Epsom salts as Wellness Mama laid out in this article: https://wellnessmama.com/8509/epsom-salt-uses/. It has so many benefits! Using Epsom salts for the bathtub is my favorite.
The other main ingredient I use is Himalayan sea salt. Himalayan sea salt is a red rock salt mined in Pakistan. The red rock salt contains a great amount of natural minerals that the body loves to soak up. Soaking in these salts can help balance the body’s PH levels and aid in detox.
Another beneficial ingredient are the oils that are added. You can use any carrier oil you prefer. I personally like almond oil and fractionated coconut oil. You can also use sunflower, olive or jojoba oil. The essential oils are also a beneficial addition to the bath salts as they can help with a variety of ailments including colds and stress. Below you will find one of my favorite recipes. I hope you love it as much as my family and I do!
