NATURAL LAUNDRY DETERGENT – MAKING THE SWITCH
After I discovered that my son’s eczema was greatly affected by the laundry detergent I was using, I went on a search for a better solution. I have used a lot of the free and clear detergents but they did not help his skin as much as I had hoped. After working with different do-it-yourself recipes, I found one that works great. I did not use borax as it irritated my son’s skin. It was quite a challenge to be so limited on ingredients! Most of the DIY detergents I tried did not work. I was very happy that we finally found a good combination of ingredients.
This liquid detergent is not quite like the store bought detergent because it separates. You will need to shake it before each use. However, it works great and smells amazing. And no chemicals! So of course I love it ♥
Ingredients
- 3/4 Cup Baking Soda
- 3 Cups HOT Water
- 3/4 Cup Dr. Bronner's Lavender Castile Soap
- 20 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients (I use a pitcher)
- Stir well
- Pour into a large jug (I use a cleaned out plastic milk jug)
- Shake before each use
- I use about 1/8 to 1/4 cup of this detergent per laundry load
The lavender and eucalyptus smell great together. This combination keeps laundry loads smelling nice and fresh. If you do not have time to make your own laundry detergent and want suggestions on store brands to buy, I suggest visiting the EWG.org website.
